Energy Conservation Tips

Students

  1. Turn off phantom electricity. Even if the unit is turned off, a light or clock on is still using energy. Plug these electronics into power strips and shut off the strip.
  2. Plug all computers, monitors, and printers into power strips. When they are not in use, shut off equipment normally and then turn off power strip.
  3. Once the electronic is fully charged, disconnect it from the charger. Even if it is fully charged, it is still using power.
  4. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
  5. If you are the last to leave a room, shut off the lights.
  6. Use task lighting instead of overhead lights whenever possible.
