What's New in Facilities?                              
This site is devoted to showcasing new University Facilities initiatives and programs that will benefit the
university Community.

 

Recyclemania 2008

RecycleMania is a friendly competition involving over 400 schools across the country to see who can motivate their campus communities to recycle more and reduce overall waste.

 

For the 3rd consecutive year, Rutgers University has entered into this competition!  The competition begins the Sunday, January 27 and concludes Saturday, February 2.  During this time frame, we will collect all recycling and trash collection data which will be posted on our web site.

    The University Facilities Environmental Services and Grounds group will spear head this effort; collecting the
    recyclables and trash, processing the data and motivating our university community to do their part in this
    competition.

Text Box: What is our Track Record?
    The Rutgers University Recycling Program ranks among the best in the country:
   Rutgers came in 1st Place in the Recycling of Food Waste Organics
 
   Rutgers came in 1st Place in the Gorilla Prize ((highest gross tonnage of recyclables, regardless of
   campus population)
§      Rutgers came in 2nd place in the Grand Champion Competition, demonstrating the greatest achievement in both source reduction and recycling
 
§      Rutgers came in 5th place in the Per Capita Classic Competition, the largest amount of acceptable recyclables per person
 
§      Rutgers came in 3rd place in the Targeted Material-Corrugated Cardboard Competition, the largest amount of recycled corrugated cardboard per person.
 
§      Rutgers came in 2nd place in the Targeted Material-Bottles and Cans Competition, the largest amount of recycled bottles and cans per person
